Denis Lawson in 'New Tricks'
BBC One sets première sate for ‘New Tricks’ season 9
The ninth season of BBC One’s long running crime drama series New Tricks will première on Monday August 27th at 9pm, it has been announced.
New Tricks was created by Nigel McCrery & Roy Mitchelland and follows a group of retired police officers, who are brought back into the fold as part of UCOS (Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad), a unit dedicated to solving cold cases.
The drama series stars Alun Armstrong, Denis Lawson, Dennis Waterman, James Bolam and Amanda Redman. The show’s upcoming ninth season, which runs 10 episodes, is poised to be one of change with Bolam leaving the series in the opening episodes and Denis Lawson joining the main cast as Steve McAllister.
In the opening episode of season 9, titled A Death In The Family, Jack Halford deals a devastating blow to the UCOS team by announcing that he’s quitting. But before the team – Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman, Brian Lane and Gerry Standing – can question the reasons behind his decision and persuade him to stay, shadowy Whitehall Intelligence figure Stephen Fisher arrives with one of his secret cases, the unsolved murder of a woman dating back 100 years, giving them just 24 hours to solve it. Will the team run out of time on the case and in changing Jack’s mind?
