Actor Tony Curran sneaks off film set to watch the Celtic game still wearing his alien costume
Actor
Tony Curran sneaked out of filming his new sci-fi telly show to catch
Celtic vs Barcelona - dressed in his full alien costume. The Doctor Who star was given a couple of hours off from filming Defiance to catch the game. But the die hard Celtic fan was warned by producers not to remove his make up or costume. And

Defiance Review: New Sci-fi Drama Premieres Monday
From Cinema Blend:
We've
had a long time to anticipate the arrival of Syfy's new drama series
Defiance, and in that time, many of us have likely set our expectations
high for what will hopefully be a new must-watch original sci-fi drama
for the cable channel. The series premiere does not disappoint, bringing
us into a story about human and alien characters who are trying to
co-exist in a city that was once St. Louis and is now known as Defiance.
Developed by Rockne S. O'Bannon, Kevin Murphy and Michael Taylor,
Defiance's tone blends western with sci-fi and tells the story of humans
and aliens as they attempt to co-exist with one another on what's left
of Earth.
The history of the setting is explained throughout the
premiere. Aliens showed up decades ago thinking earth was uninhabited,
they were wrong, war broke out and after earth was torn apart by the
battles and drastically changed by alien technology, humans and Votans
(the collective term for the various alien species) eventually laid down
their arms and have attempted to share what's left of the planet.
There's a bit more to it than that, and we begin to learn the details as
the first episode gets going.
'Defiance' Review: New Syfy Drama Comes Out With Guns BlazingFrom Huffington Post:
"Defiance"
(9 p.m. ET Monday, Syfy) is not just a smart, well-crafted TV show with
a good cast and an adventurous flavor, it's also indisputably science
fiction, which is a relief.
Meet the Aliens of Defiance
We love horror, which
pretty much translates into loving aliens since they are often scary
(exceptions include E.T., Stitch, Gleek the Monkey and that alien from
Mac and Me that loved Sears). A new alien epic is coming via Syfy's
Defiance (Airing Mondays at 9/8c on Syfy), where sheer terror is
substituted with pure sci-fi, but that doesn't make these aliens any
less tough. In the show, life on Earth is cataclysmically changed by the
arrival of the Votanis Collective, a conglomeration of alien races
fleeing the destruction of their world. After your standard issue alien
war apocalypse, we're left with a world in which humans exist alongside a
rash of extraterrestrial races. Castithans: Of all
the Votan races, Castithans are closest to humans. They are
characterized physically by their white skin and hair, and culturally by
their adherence to a strict caste system. Irathient:
Irathients are a proud, tribal and spiritual race possessed of
excellent combat skills. They have broad and flat nasal bridges, reddish
skin, and large eyes. They are sometimes seen as feral due to their
love of nature and their aggression. Indogenes:
Indogene have bright, white skin laid with hexagonal patterns, and no
hair. An intellectual race, they value science above all and upgrade
themselves with cybernetic implants. Gulanee: Gulanee are rarely seen, and are beings of pure energy. Sensoth:
Somewhat simian in appearance, Sensoth tend to be on the larger side,
and are the longest-lived of the Votan races. Their size and strength
makes them well-suited for use as muscle and manual labor. Liberata:
Short in stature and generally fairly hairy, the Liberata are a servant
class with a lower social standing than the other races. Volge: A frightening, war-like race, the Volge make use of Cold Fire weaponry and pose a threat to both Votans and humans, alike. Source: Chiller TV
'Defiance': Everything You Need To Know
Huffington Post's very comprehensive guide to everything Defiance is here.
'Defiance': Syfy Attempts To Blend TV Series, Video Game
Earth is recovering from an apocalyptic event, alien races
cooperate warily, a wise-cracking outsider suddenly finds himself
shouldering new responsibilities.
Yes, the world of "Defiance"
features familiar sci-fi touchstones, but it's taken an ambitious
approach to how you can experience them: Through both a weekly TV series
and an online-only video game.
Five years in the making, the
joint project is the most high-profile and big-budget attempt at ongoing
"transmedia" entertainment, promising characters and storylines that
crisscross between the Syfy network show and Trion Worlds game.
Set
in 2046 on a "terraformed" Earth where humans live alongside seven
alien species, the series premiering Monday displays a space Western
vibe with bar brawls, interspecies politics and love, plus actors
familiar to genre fans like Julie Benz and Jaime Murray. The
already-released game, a multiplayer third-person shooter, has plenty of
guns to upgrade, quests for supplies, and boss battles in which players
cooperate to bring down giant monsters.
Though they can be
experienced separately, somebody who both plays the game and watches the
show will gain an extra layer of insight to each, promises actor Grant
Bowler, who appears in both. Bowler said he was impressed and a bit wary
of that idea when he signed on to play lead Joshua "Jeb" Nolan, who
becomes "lawkeeper" of the city of St. Louis, renamed Defiance by
survivors.

04:00PM Vincent and The Doctor
Visiting
a museum, the Doctor (Matt Smith) and Amy (Karen Gillan) are especially
excited with the gallery for Vincent van Gogh (Tony Curran). Many of
van Gogh pieces are displayed, including "The Church at Auvers (1890)".
However there is something irregular discovered on the painting - a
small alien image within a window pane. The Doctor quickly takes Amy
back to 1890 where they locate the troubled artist that upsets the
locals, cannot pay his bills, and is able to see an invisible monster
that no one else is able to see.
Guest stars include Defiance's Tony Curran, Nik Howden, Chrissie Cotterill and Sarah Counsell.

The Politician's Husband
Clips of The Politician's Husband were shown last night (Saturday) in a BBC Two trailer of various forthcoming programmes. The trailer included a clip of David Tennant's character saying on the telephone (close-up facing the camera) "Rather you than me, love."
A video of the BBC Two Trailer (which includes the clips of The Politician's Husband) has been posted to YouTube.
The Telegraph lists The Politician's Husband in its 'Culture and Arts Things To See in April'. It says that it will air from Monday 22nd April. If that is correct then it means that the first episode of The Politician's Husband will broadcast on the day of the final episode of Broadchurch. If The Politician's Husband is similar to The Politician's Wife then it will have to be in a post 9pm watershed slot. Hopefully BBC Two will broadcast it at 10pm and not 9pm which is the broadcast time for Broadchurch!

Following John Barrowman's tweet last week, stating that he won't be involved in the 50th Anniversary special episode, many publications have been quick to spread that message, including the Radio Times, Digital Spy, TV Guide and many others.
Carole E. and John Barrowman on the Art of Word Painting and Visual Storytelling
From PopMatters:
Following the author’s axiom “Write what you know,” Carole E. and
John Barrowman can point to an ever-growing list of successful
publications to prove their mastery of this concept. In a short few
years, the Barrowman siblings have written best-selling non-fiction with
the autobiographical Anything Goes (Michael O’Mara, 2008) and I Am What I Am (Michael O’Mara, 2009).
Then there’s the Torchwood fiction, beginning with a comic book story “Selkie”, and possibly concluding with the novel Torchwood: Exodus Code (BBC Books, 2012). Now they are working on their third young adult novel in the popular Hollow Earth series, published by Michael O’Mara Books in the UK and Simon and Schuster, under its Aladdin imprint, in the US.

Torchwood star John Barrowman is not holding out much hope that the hit sci-fi series will return any time soon.
The Doctor Who spin-off, created by Swansea's Russell T Davies, ran to four series, the most recent in 2011.
Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack Harkness, said: "It's in limbo, in a sense.
"Something could be done in five years, something could be done in 10 years. But if I'd sat around and waited for the last two years I would have been bankrupt and unemployed, so I've moved on."
Barrowman can currently be seen in Sky One's comic book adventure Arrow.

John Barrowman urges caution about 'Doctor Who' 50th role: "Stay calm"
From Digital Spy:
John Barrowman has tried to manage fans' expectations regarding his potential involvement in Doctor Who's 50th anniversary. The Captain Jack Harkness actor revealed earlier today (March 1) that he has been contacted about the show's anniversary.
Speaking on This Morning, he had said: "I haven't had any information up until just about right now - and all I can say to you is that we're discussing things... that's a total exclusive! You guys are the first to ever hear it."
He went on: "Even yesterday I was giving interviews and I was saying I have heard nothing, and now I can give you a little bit of an exclusive. I've heard something."
However, Barrowman has since seemingly tried to calm fans' excitement, tweeting: "Re 50th I didn't say in what capacity or what medium so stay calm and carry on. Jb."

"One less performance of Richard II for David Tennant?"
From David Tennant on Twitter:
Eagle-eyed Paksena on the GallifreyBase forum has spotted that the Richard II performance on Wednesday 13th November is no longer showing on the Royal Shakespeare Company website.
It has been removed in two places on the website including the ticket purchase link but there is nothing to say why or even whether there will be no performance on that day.
When the dates were first announced Monday 11th November was not listed so it now means that during the final week in Stratford-Upon-Avon there will be performances on Tuesday 12th, matinee and evening on Thursday 14th, Friday 15th and then matinee and evening on Saturday 15th. The production then moves to the Barbican Centre in London from 9th December.
One suggestion (and we stress that this is only a suggestion) is that POSSIBLY David Tennant could be involved in some promotion for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary on those two days. Nothing has been announced about David doing anything for the 50th on 23rd November but even so various media may wish to interview him.
Another alternative could be that on Monday 11th and / or Wednesday 13th November they will be playing a private or corporate performance which will not go on sale to the public.
This means that David Tennant is now playing 39 performances of Richard II. Tickets to Full RSC Members go on sale tomorrow online at 10am.

The Escape Artist
It seems that David Tennant has been reported a couple of times this week filming the BBC drama The Escape Artist in Surrey this week which may explain why there have been less sightings than if the production was filming in London.
Both of these reports only come from one person so are unsubstantiated but on Wednesday he was reported filming in Guildford and yesterday in a horse yard near Cranleigh in Surrey.
These dates have been added to the Known Filming Dates and Locations section of The Escape Artist page on DavidTennantOnTwitter.com (which also includes David's prep word and costume fittings).

Broadchurch
New clips of David Tennant in Broadchurch are shown in the new ITV trailer called Where Life Lives, It also includes the first chance to hear David Tennant using his own accent as this character. ITV have published their press pack for Broadchurch. It includes an interview with David Tennant. A
little tidbit about Broadchurch is that David Tennant uses his own
Scottish accent in the drama. In the ITV press kit he says that he
presumes his character comes from Glasgow. David Tennant's interview from the Broadchurch ITV press pack has been reproduced on the blog. Source (including image): David Tennant on Twitter (blog)

Series Four of Doctor Who will start being repeated on the satellite station Watch from Friday 15th February. Starting
on Tuesday 15th January Watch started a new run of repeats of David
Tennant's episodes of Doctor Who following a repeat of Christopher
Eccleston's series at the beginning of 2013. Although
there were 13 episodes in Series Two, Watch only showed 10 of the
episodes on weekdays between Tuesday 15th and Monday 28th January. Due
to the nature of the episodes Watch do not show Tooth & Claw, The
Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit during the day but instead reserve
them for late night slots. Watch started repeating series three on Tuesday 29th January and that series ends on Thursday 14th February. Each episode is broadcast at 8am and again at 5pm plus it is repeated an hour later on Watch + 1.
