New interview with John Barrowman

A short interview with John Barrowman was published over at The Scotsman yesterday. An excerpt of John's interview is below:

"Have I ever been the shy retiring type?" he ponders. "Never. Not since the day I was born," he replies, triumphantly. "When I came out of my mother the doctor had to slap me to get me to shut up. At school the teachers let me get away with murder because I was able to talk my way out of anything."

"The first day I set foot on Wisteria Lane I remembered when I was that little boy who'd moved from Glasgow at nine years old and was taken on a vacation to Universal Studios in California. I was driven around what would become Wisteria Lane, which was then the road where they filmed The Munsters and various Doris Day movies, all the same houses are still there. And so for me as an adult to stand on that street knowing that I was there as a boy, dreaming that one day I would be involved in this business, well that was a really weird sensation. [Tim Randall]

John Barrowman talks about his guest role as a baddie in Desperate Housewives (C4, Wednesday, June 2)...

Will you be watching yourself on TV?
“I always read about actors saying they can’t bear to watch themselves on TV, but I’m not like that. I love watching myself! I’ll be getting the popcorn out and the vodka tonics and I will be jumping up and down. When I saw it in America with my friends, we had cocktails and they all applauded when I walked on screen. I am so chuffed by it.”

How did it come about?
“The exec producer Marc Cherry loved my character Captain Jack in Torchwood. He contacted me when I was in LA last April doing something for Children In Need. We had a meeting and he told me he wanted to have me sooner rather than later. It’s unbelievable when somebody from one of the top TV shows in the world tells you that!”

What was filming like?
“It is filmed at Universal Studios which I remember visiting as a kid – they filmed shows like The Munsters there. I never dreamed I’d one day be working there!”

And how did you get on with the cast?
“I play Angie Bolen’s long lost ex who's been looking for Angie for 20 years and we got on great. I was like her long-lost brother. And Eva Longoria liked me because I have a naughty sense of humour.”

You lived in America from the age of nine. Will you go back?
“I really enjoyed working in America. I had a lot of fun and I got to see lots of family and friends - including Russell T Davies - but after nine weeks of filming, I was ready to come back. The UK is my home, I have a lovely place on the Welsh coast which I share with my partner Scott. It’s in a cul-de-sac and my back garden goes down on to the beach.”

Recently, John did an interview with Access Hollywood from the set of Desperate Housewives. He didn't reveal much about the upcoming episodes, but he did talk about working on the show. The interview is below.

John Barrowman to guest star on 'Glee'?

John Barrowman has been meeting with Glee producers in Los Angeles about possibly guest starring on the show as a teacher.

He enthused: "I absolutely love the show. What would I play in it? I’m not sure what kind of character I’d like to play, maybe I could be a teacher, you know, another teacher who comes in and helps out.

"That’s me just kind of brainstorming but the fact that they want to have a meeting with me is really quite nice in itself, it’s so exciting!" [Mirror.co.uk]

He will also be heading to America on Thursday to start shooting his Desperate Housewives episodes.

He told Mirror.co.uk: "I just got the script last night. He is the most evil character they’ve ever introduced to the series. And that’s saying something!

"I've been told I'll not only be involved in what they call ‘the current mystery storyline’, but I'll affect every single housewife on the street. I can’t wait! I’m going to be having my Starbucks in the morning with Eva Longoria, woohoo!"

John Barrowman on The One Show; makes 'Desperate Housewives' news

John appeared on The One Show today and talked about Torchwood and Desperate Housewives. A segment from the show is below:



John also revealed there he will appear in at least one more episode of Desperate Housewives:

Speaking on BBC's "The One Show," Barrowman revealed that his character will be introduced an episode earlier than originally planned and confirmed that his character is nothing short of evil.

"I leave in about a week and a half to do 'Desperate Housewives,'" he said. "I just found out today that I was supposed to be doing 5 episodes, it has increased now to 6. So I'm really, really chuffed about that. They've decided to put my character in sooner than we thought. He's a villain, he's a bad guy and he's going to affect all the women in Wisteria Lane."

...According to executive producer Bob Daily, Barrowman will be playing the much alluded to, Patrick. When he arrives in town, Patrick will be getting very involved in the lives of all the central figures on the series and will serve as an insight into Angie's mysterious back-story. [InsideBlip]

John was on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on February 5. In the interview he talks about getting ready to be on Desperate Housewives.

John Barrowman joins 'Desperate Housewives'

Way back in July last year rumors were going around that John Barrowman would have a role in Desperate Housewives. Now it's been confirmed that John Barrowman will be in a minimum of five episodes starting in early April. He'll play a central role in the mystery surrounding Drea de Matteo's character, Angie.

John Barrowman to join Desperate Housewives?

Dougray Scott was on a few seasons ago so this would be awesome:

JOHN Barrowman is in talks with Desperate Housewives producers to nab a part on the show.

The Torchwood star revealed he was about to meet up with bosses in LA to discuss the role during a chat with DJ Chris Moyles on his Radio 1 Breakfast Show today.

The 42-year-old exclaimed: "I probably shouldn't say this but I've got a meeting with the execs of Desperate Housewives.

"Can you believe it, I'm going to be a Desperate Housewife!"

The America actor didn't say what the part entailed. [The Sun]
