• Broadchurch

Currently the Radio Times website lists the final episode of Broadchurch (on 22nd April) to last an extra 5 minutes so it would run from 9pm to 10.05pm.
The first six episodes of Broadchurch are now available to download from iTunes. Each episode costs £1.89.

• The Politician's Husband

The BBC have posted the first trailer for The Politician's Husband to YouTube.

It has been confirmed that the first episode of The Politician's Husband will premiere on Thursday 25th April at 9pm on BBC Two. This means that the first episode of the three part drama will be broadcast the same week as the final episode of Broadchurch. More information here.
The BBC Media Centre has added a new David Tennant interview (plus photos) about The Politician's Husband. This is to promote the three part drama, and extracts from the interview will be used in various publications over the next few weeks. In the interview, David explains that Paula Milne's writing and the fact that it is a political drama drew him to the project. Read more here.

In the US, Spies Of Warsaw is available now on Amazon Instant Video.
DentonRC says that the US version of the Spies Of Warsaw DVD (released on Tuesday) includes "a 10-minute featurette with Tennant discussing the feature." Other websites indicate that the extra features will be the interview clips which are on the BBC America website.

• The Great Scott

From Sunday 14th April 2013 at 3pm on BBC Radio Four for three consecutive Sundays, David Tennant will be starring in a series of radio plays written by Walter Scott. The first story is The Fair Maid Of Perth and the second one will be Rob Roy. The final story has not been announced yet.

• Richard II

The Richard II performance which was listed in some places for Saturday 7th December has now been removed from both the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Barbican websites. Tickets never went on sale for this performance. This means that now David Tennant will play 84 performances (39 in Stratford-Upon-Avon and 45 in London). Most performances of Richard II on the Royal Shakespeare Company website are sold out but The Barbican Centre website still has availablilty for most dates.

• Doctor Who

The BBC has announced that Joanna Page has joined the cast of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special. (Joanna played the wife of David Tennant's character in Nativity 2 Danger In The Manger!) The BBC have also posted a photo of Joanna with David, Matt and Jenna-Louse at the read-through.

Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited - The Fourth Doctor will premiere on BBC America on Sunday 28th April with David Tennant interview clips again.

• Doctor Who

David Tennant to star in Doctor Who 50th anniversary
Doctor Who Magazine has announced that David Tennant and Billie Piper will appear in the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special episode which will air on Saturday 23rd November.
The episode will receive a limited worldwide 3D cinema release. Also starring in the episode will be John Hurt. Filming on the episode is imminent.

• The Politician's Husband

Clips of  The Politician's Husband were shown last night (Saturday) in a BBC Two trailer of various forthcoming programmes. The trailer included a clip of David Tennant's character saying on the telephone (close-up facing the camera) "Rather you than me, love."

The Telegraph lists The Politician's Husband in its 'Culture and Arts Things To See in April'. It says that it will air from Monday 22nd April. If that is correct then it means that the first episode of The Politician's Husband will broadcast on the day of the final episode of Broadchurch. If The Politician's Husband is similar to The Politician's Wife then it will have to be in a post 9pm watershed slot. Hopefully BBC Two will broadcast it at 10pm and not 9pm which is the broadcast time for Broadchurch!

James McAvoy introduces us to his Neverwhere character Richard Mayhew in this brand new clip from the BBC Radio 4 drama.
Adapted from award-winning author Neil Gaiman’s novel, Neverwhere sees Mayhew catapulted from his ordinary life into a subterranean world beneath London following an act of kindness.
“I helped a girl called Door, now something strange has happened and it's like I'm falling through gaps,” laments McAvoy in the clip. “I need to get back…my life. I’m not going mad. Am I?!”
As well as McAvoy, Neverwhere features an all-star cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Head, Bernard Cribbins and Christopher Lee.

James McAvoy, best known as a film actor, proves a commanding Macbeth, and the relationship with his wife is powerfully caught. The text makes it clear that the couple had a child who died in infancy and McAvoy and Claire Foy as Lady Macbeth suggest both an undertow of grief and the sense that their murderous ambition is some kind of sick compensation for their loss.
At the start it is Foy’s Lady Macbeth who leads the way, like a bossy schoolgirl who has set her heart on becoming head-girl. Unlike his morally blind wife, however, Macbeth knows what murder will cost, and initially at least, has a strong sense of what is right. McAvoy thrillingly suggests a man on the rack of his own guilty mind who learns that the only way to secure his position and silence his conscience is to become inured to atrocity with further killings.
He also does full justice to the haunting poetry of the last act in which Macbeth realises just what he has lost - not least himself and any sense of purpose or meaning in life. It is the reason that Macbeth is a genuinely tragic character and not just a serial killer.

As anticipation mounts among fantasy fans ahead of the Radio 4/4 Extra co-production of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, RadioTimes.com can reveal the first exclusive shot of the star-studded cast, which reads like a who's who of cult TV and film.
Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch and X-Men's James McAvoy are joined by Game of Thrones and former Fades star Natalie Dormer, Doctor Who alumnus Sophie Okonedo and Homeland's David Harewood for the tale of London Below, an alternate reality beneath the capital where famous landmarks take on a life of their own.
Screen legends Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins also star in an adaptation that is being described as an "audio film".
The six-part series begins with an hour-long episode at 6pm on Saturday 16 March on Radio 4 and continues with five 30-minute instalments stripped across the week on Radio 4 Extra from Monday 18 March.

• Richard II

"One less performance of Richard II for David Tennant?"

Eagle-eyed Paksena on the GallifreyBase forum has spotted that the Richard II performance on Wednesday 13th November is no longer showing on the Royal Shakespeare Company website.

It has been removed in two places on the website including the ticket purchase link but there is nothing to say why or even whether there will be no performance on that day.

When the dates were first announced Monday 11th November was not listed so it now means that during the final week in Stratford-Upon-Avon there will be performances on Tuesday 12th, matinee and evening on Thursday 14th, Friday 15th and then matinee and evening on Saturday 15th. The production then moves to the Barbican Centre in London from 9th December.

One suggestion (and we stress that this is only a suggestion) is that POSSIBLY David Tennant could be involved in some promotion for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary on those two days. Nothing has been announced about David doing anything for the 50th on 23rd November but even so various media may wish to interview him.

Another alternative could be that on Monday 11th and / or Wednesday 13th November they will be playing a private or corporate performance which will not go on sale to the public.

This means that David Tennant is now playing 39 performances of Richard II. Tickets to Full RSC Members go on sale tomorrow online at 10am.

• Penguins - Spy In The Huddle

Penguins - Spy In The Huddle broadcasts today!  
David Tennant narrates the three part nature documentary Penguins - Spy In The Huddle which will be broadcast on consecutive Mondays from 11th February at 9pm on BBC One. The programme uses state of the art camera techniques to film penguins in their natural enviroment in Antarctica and Peru.

• The Escape Artist

It seems that David Tennant has been reported a couple of times this week filming the BBC drama The Escape Artist in Surrey this week which may explain why there have been less sightings than if the production was filming in London.
Both of these reports only come from one person so are unsubstantiated but on Wednesday he was reported filming in Guildford and yesterday in a horse yard near Cranleigh in Surrey.
These dates have been added to the Known Filming Dates and Locations section of  The Escape Artist page on DavidTennantOnTwitter.com (which also includes David's prep word and costume fittings).

New clips of David Tennant in Broadchurch are shown in the new ITV trailer called Where Life Lives, It also includes the first chance to hear David Tennant using his own accent as this character. 
ITV have published their press pack for Broadchurch. It includes an interview with David Tennant. 
A little tidbit about Broadchurch is that David Tennant uses his own Scottish accent in the drama. In the ITV press kit he says that he presumes his character comes from Glasgow.

Watch are to repeat Series Four of Doctor Who (starring David Tennant)

Series Four of Doctor Who will start being repeated on the satellite station Watch from Friday 15th February.

Starting on Tuesday 15th January Watch started a new run of repeats of David Tennant's episodes of Doctor Who following a repeat of Christopher Eccleston's series at the beginning of 2013.

Although there were 13 episodes in Series Two, Watch only showed 10 of the episodes on weekdays between Tuesday 15th and Monday 28th January. Due to the nature of the episodes Watch do not show Tooth & Claw, The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit during the day but instead reserve them for late night slots.

Watch started repeating series three on Tuesday 29th January and that series ends on Thursday 14th February.

Each episode is broadcast at 8am and again at 5pm plus it is repeated an hour later on Watch + 1.

Daniel Kerr in radio drama 'The Pythagorean Comma'

Daniel Kerr stars in 'The Pythagorean Comma'

Loosely based on Jules Verne's story "Mr Ray Sharp and Miss Me Flat", "The Pythagorean Comma" is a music drama with text by Blake Morrison and music by Gavin Bryars. It's about one of the oldest mysteries in the science of sound. The story says Bryars, "has wit, whimsy, fantasy and magic and is also about scientific experiment".
Verne's story takes place in a 19th century Swiss village. This contemporary take on the original is set on a remote fictional Scottish island but the essential story is unchanged.
A village organist gets old and deaf and stops playing and the organ falls silent. A mysterious stranger arrives who not only plays the organ beautifully but also declares that he will develop a new organ registration with the voices of the children in the school. Each will have his or her own note that has a special resonance.
Though the children are musically untrained, the stranger rehearses them with an iron discipline and prepares them for a Christmas concert. It's at this concert that he demonstrates his phenomenon of a "human organ". He tells the children that he will make them famous and that they are a choir like no other choir.
A boy and girl who are arch rivals are given their special notes. They're angry because this strange music maestro seems to have given them the same note. However he explains that there is a tiny beating sound between them - and this difference is the Pythagorean Comma. The two children are relieved that they have their own notes but strangely, once they start to sing, their old rivalry disappears and it is as if a new harmony has come to them and to the village in general.
The stranger seems to have a power over the choir and they outperform everyone's expectations in a Christmas concert for the island community.
Composer Gavin Bryars and author Blake Morrison have collaborated before on a Jules Verne story, 'Doctor Ox's Experiment' - also about Verne's interest in music and science.
Gerda Stevenson stars as the narrator, Anna. She's the church warden and mother of a child she christened Ian but who now has the new name of Ray because his special note is Ray sharp. She sees at first hand how the stranger brings his gift of music.

On a remote Scottish island a mysterious stranger is rehearsing the children’s choir for a Christmas concert. Sounds spooky enough, but this music drama from composer Gavin Bryars and writer Blake Morrison (after a tale by Jules Verne) also explores one of the oldest mysteries in sound. Bearsden actor rubs shoulders with Hollywood stars

A talented young actor from Bearsden is going to appear in a Disney film next year with Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
Daniel Kerr (12) was on set with the star in London recently to shoot Disney’s ‘Maleficent’, a re-telling of the classic ‘Sleeping Beauty’ story from the perspective of the princess’s evil nemesis, Malificent.
The Bearsden Academy pupil also appeared in the popular BBC school drama series Waterloo Road last Thursday as a young boy called Ewan.
He is represented by Scream Management Kids agency and since joining them two years ago he has also landed a major role in a film called ‘The Wee Man’ about former Glasgow gangland figure Paul Ferris - Daniel plays him as a young man.
Directed by the Silver Rose award-winning director Ray Burdis, the sixties-based film will be screened next January.
Brought up in the notorious area of Blackhill, Glasgow, Ferris, the son of decent, hardworking, parents he learns that life on the street is tough. With a cast boasting names such as Martin Compston, Denis Lawson, John Hannah, and Patrick Bergin, this Carnaby International Feature Film follows Paul Ferris’s journey from childhood to manhood.
Daniel has also been working on Hat Trick Production’s Great Night Out which will air next January and he played the role of Decky in Touchpaper West’s series 5 of Being Human.

Gather 'round The Greene Space with the hosts of WQXR and WNYC for our annual reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol: A Radio Drama.

The beloved holiday tradition returns with the help of Emmy Award-winning actor Brian Cox, who stars in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Listen to him talk with Kristen Meinzer on The Takeaway about how he'll get into character for the performance.
The story will be brought to life in The Greene Space with a stage reading performed by WQXR and WNYC personalities and reporters, including: Naomi Lewin, Terrance McKnight, Midge Woolsey, Robert Krulwich, Brian Lehrer, Bob Hennelly and Arun Venugopal. Directed by WQXR host Elliott Forrest and adapted by award-winning playwright Arthur Yorinks.

Enquirer - radio broadcast

The radio broadcast of Enquirer – a co-production from the National Theatre of Scotland, the London Review of Books, and Hopscotch Films - premièred on Friday 16 November.

Blending fact, anecdote and passionate opinion, Enquirer is a rapid response to the unfolding events in the newspaper industry. It is based on interviews with over forty journalists and was first performed in June as a site-specific piece of theatre performed in an empty media office block in Glasgow. 

As its tour draws to a close, we would like to invite you to listen to a specially produced radio broadcast on Radio 4 (Friday 16 November at 9pm).

Edited and directed by Vicky Featherstone and John Tiffany, co-edited by Andrew O'Hagan. The Enquirer cast includes: Maureen Beattie, John Bett, Billy Boyd, James Anthony Pearson, Gabriel Quigley and Billy Riddoch.

Greg Hemphill: 'Living With Mother'

Sherlock's Mark Gatiss among the cast of Living with Mother series two

Doctor Who writer joins an all-star cast including Brigit Forsyth, Tom Goodman-Hill and Alison Steadman in the returning Radio 4 comedy

Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss will be among the cast of Living with Mother when the programme returns to BBC Radio 4 later this month.

The Doctor Who writer will be joined by Brigit Forsyth, Tom Goodman-Hill, Greg Hemphill, Susan Jameson, Daniel Mays, Linda Robson and Alison Steadman in the second series of Alexander Kirk’s family-based comedy.

Living with Mother, which was first broadcast in 2011, explores the dilemmas faced by men who continue living with their mothers long into adulthood. Each of the new series’ four episodes will offer listeners a 15-minute snapshot of the life of a different family.

In the first episode, Gatiss will play a no-talent wannabe pop-star called Marlon whose mother (Jameson) can’t bear the thought of her son humiliating himself by showcasing his 'singing' on a nationally-broadcast TV talent show.

Linda Robson will appear in episode two as a hypochondriac mum who babies her grown-up son (Mays), while Alison Steadman and Tom Goodman-Hill star in episode three as two characters who conspire to stay in a beach chalet over winter as a means of saving money.

Brigit Forsyth and Greg Hemphill make up the fourth episode’s partnership, respectively playing a fitness fanatic mum and her overweight, couch-potato son.

The first series of Living with Mother earned critical praise when it was broadcast, being described in Radio Times as an "astutely-observed comedy series" in which "easy laughs are replaced with a lip-trembling insight into vulnerability, lack of self-confidence and interdependency."

Living with Mother’s second series will begin on BBC Radio 4 on Wednesday 31 October at 11:15pm.

Alex Salmond's OAP recruit in his bid for Victor-y

Alex Salmon might just have found the perfect recruiting sergeant to persuade Scottish pensioners to vote for independence – grumpy Victor from the BBC sitcom, Still Game. 

Actor Greg Hemphill – who plays Victor McDade, one half of the iconic Craiglang double act alongside his pal Jack Jarvis, played by Ford Kiernan – has suggested he will be voting ‘Yes’ in the 2014 referendum. 

The 42-year-old star has so far refused to be drawn on his views on separation, insisting that “there was a curtain on the polling booth for a reason”. 

However, he said on Twitter last week: “Once Scotland votes for Independence, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle will want it too, thereby ridding themselves of the Tories forever.” 
The comment was picked up by the Celebs4indy Twitter page, which retweets comments by celebrities who back independence. 

Hemphill later predicted that the “great cities of the North” would leave England and join Scotland if the Union was dissolved. He added: “We will forever take the p*** out of them for being Southern Jessies.” 

Despite his desire to stay impartial, the actor has made a number of comments on Twitter that appear to show his true colours. When Ultimo bra tycoon Michelle Mone threatened to move to London in the event of a ‘Yes’ vote, he said: “I was going to vote for Scottish independence but now I can’t because Michelle Mone might leave.”
