Sean Biggerstaff to have a small role in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'

The List's Paul Dale spoke with actor Sean Biggerstaff at last month's Glasgow Film Festival. Sean talked about his very small role in the last Harry Potter film. I'm not sure if he means part 1 or part 2 of Deathly Hallows, but it's probably part 2.

I did manage to get a chat with the lovely actor Sean Biggerstaff, best known for his role in the Harry Potter films, sex comedy Cashback and superb television film Consenting Adults. Biggerstaff told me he’s got a blink-and-you'll-miss-it part in the last Harry Potter and a load of other stuff going on but for some reason we started talking about theatre.

Biggerstaff, a very fine actor raised on the stage, said he has not been offered anything decent on stage for a long time and that all he got offered were crazy experimental roles which really wasn’t his bag. So on his behalf, I just want to say: ‘Come on you Scottish thespian dic(k)tators in your publicly-funded ivory towers - there’s real gold in them Glaswegian hills, and his name is a curious amalgam of a drab South Lanarkshire town and a stick to assist walking. John Barrowman to guest star on 'Glee'?

John Barrowman has been meeting with Glee producers in Los Angeles about possibly guest starring on the show as a teacher.

He enthused: "I absolutely love the show. What would I play in it? I’m not sure what kind of character I’d like to play, maybe I could be a teacher, you know, another teacher who comes in and helps out.

"That’s me just kind of brainstorming but the fact that they want to have a meeting with me is really quite nice in itself, it’s so exciting!" [Mirror.co.uk]

He will also be heading to America on Thursday to start shooting his Desperate Housewives episodes.

He told Mirror.co.uk: "I just got the script last night. He is the most evil character they’ve ever introduced to the series. And that’s saying something!

"I've been told I'll not only be involved in what they call ‘the current mystery storyline’, but I'll affect every single housewife on the street. I can’t wait! I’m going to be having my Starbucks in the morning with Eva Longoria, woohoo!"

Alan Cumming's last day on the set of 'Burlesque'

This is from Alan Cumming's personal blog:
I just got back to my hotel after a 16 hour day of work, my last on the movie Burlesque. I am really tired, but I can't imagine how the girl dancers are feeling tonight. They have been dancing their asses off, at full pelt, all day long, wearing these chain-mail style dresses that are already making scrapes and grazes on their skin - and they have a whole day of doing it all again tomorrow. It's the finale of the film, a song written by Christina, and it really is amazing. But wow, those girls, I don't envy them. And the set is so hot because there are huge stage lights on all day and the air conditioning can't be turned on because it makes the smoke that is pumped into the sound stage to increase the lighting effects disappear. At least they all look totally hot and are going to be worshipped the world over come Thanksgiving. Here's a little film I made today...

Burlesque is scheduled to open on November 24 in the US.

James McAvoy drops out of untitled cancer comedy

James has dropped out of the formerly titled I'm With Cancer after shooting started last month in Vancouver. Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will step into the role. Shooting has been halted temporarily and will start up again in the week of March 8. Co-star Seth Rogen gave a statement to MTV:
Rogen said, "It’s incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone’s control have taken James away from the project, but, with James’s blessing, we were able to have Joseph step in to take on the [lead] role of Adam. We all look forward to working with James in the future."

...For what it's worth, we've been hearing rumors from readers about a death in McAvoy's family, which would be a more than reasonable explanation for his departure. Since we're not in the business of gossip I'm not planning to investigate further, but I wish McAvoy all the best in whatever took him away from I'm With Cancer, and anxiously await what Gordon-Levitt will have to offer in the role. [Cinema Blend]

There is also a little Wanted 2 news today. Last week Angelina Jolie reportedly dropped out of Wanted 2 and Universal quickly scrapped the project. Apparently those reports hadn't been confirmed by anyone at Universal. Now comes word that Wanted co-creator Mark Millar says the film could still get made because Universal may not have come to a final decision.

You can also watch an exclusive interview (via JMMB) with James and Best Actress nominee Helen Mirren discussing The Last Station over at Making Of. I would embed it, but the video comes with autoplay.

Ewan McGregor on the set of 'Knockout'

Here are some photos (via Best of Ewan) of Ewan and his co-star Gina Carano on the set of Steven Soderbergh's Knockout. I'm not sure what city they're shooting in, but it might be in Dublin.

Update: I got an email stating that the photos were taken in Barcelona, not Dublin. Thanks to

New poster and trailer from 'The Good Heart' with Brian Cox

The Good Heart stars Scottish actor Brian Cox as a bartender who takes a young homeless man (Paul Dano) in under his wing:
'Heart' tells the story of Lucas (Dano), who attempts suicide and meets bar-owner Jacques (Cox) while in the hospital. The two quickly form a friendship and Lucas starts to work in Jacques' bar. Jacques plans to have Lucas continue his position as manager of the dive bar but his intentions may be thwarted when Lucas takes up a love interest. The film apparently takes a "dramedy" slant, as Kári, commenting in the film's presskit, seeks to "mix humor with poetry and comedy with tragedy."

"The Good Heart" is a reunion of sorts for the lead actors. Dano's breakout role was in the 2001 feature, "L.I.E." which centered on a 15-year-old Long Island boy who loses everything, including his family and soon becomes involved in a relationship with a much older man (Cox). It's a creepy, but involving film that you should see if you haven't. [The Playlist]

Magnolia Pictures will release the film on Video-On-Demand on April 2 and in theaters on April 30 in the US.
