'The Details' gets shut down

James McAvoy had been scheduled to start shooting The Details in Seattle this summer, but the film has suddenly been shut down.

"They've run into some challenges," says Amy Lillard Dee, head of WashingtonFilmWorks, which provides financial incentives to movie-makers who agree to work in the state. This year, the state legislature increased those tax benefits, a move that Dee had credited with bringing The Details to Seattle.

Dee says the producers are "still fighting to get the movie made."

UPDATE: The film's executive producer, Jennifer Roth, sent me this statement: "The production of THE DETAILS is currently on hold due to unforeseen circumstances. We look forward to resuming business in Seattle shortly as this community is the perfect home for the movie." [Seattle Weekly]

I had really been looking forward to the film, and hopefully they manage to get enough funding to eventually make it.

James McAvoy at the Seattle International Film Festival?

The Seattle International Film Festival opens tonight on Ninth Avenue. James McAvoy might (and that's a might) attend tonight because the film production crew of The Details ordered tickets to the event, and James and his co-star Elisabeth Banks could make an appearance for the opening.

Seattle production of 'The Details' to start soon

There is a little information about the filming of James McAvoy's latest film, The Details from the Seattlepi:

A posting on a local Northwest production blog shed some light on when filming will begin. A call is out for full-time interns to staff the "Details" set from May 18 to July 31. The posting is also on Craigslist.

So if you spot a crew hanging around somewhere in Seattle, let us know.

Update: Just spoke with James Keblas, director of the Mayor's Office of Film and Music. Locations around the city are still being sorted out, he said, but production should start "relatively soon," he said. We'll keep you posted as we hear more.

Earlier this month James McAvoy revealed that he would soon start shooting independent film, The Details in Seattle. Laura Linney will also likely star in the film and James will start filming later in the month after Three Days of Rain closes on May 9th. Jacob Aaron Estes, who directed indie drama Mean Creek, wrote the script and will also direct.

The Wanted sequel is also likely to go into production later this year, in the autumn, around the release of James' upcoming biopic, The Last Station.

New film for James McAvoy?

Someone over at IMDb points us to a video with James McAvoy talking about shooting an independent film in Seattle called The Detail after he wraps up the play, Three Days of Rain. I won't post the video because it looks more like a personal video of James signing autographs outside the theater, but you can hear him talk about the new movie at 1:49 here.

Someone else also posted that the film might be titled Missing Detail, a movie that will be shot in Oregon and Washington. I haven't been able to find anything else about this movie though, so if someone knows anything feel free to share details.
