NBC delays 'Rex is Not Your Lawyer'?

NBC had originally been hoping to get Rex Is Not Your Lawyer with David Tennant to air in one of its 10pm time slots in the spring to replace the Jay Leno Show. But according to one of Michael Ausiello's sources "The sets are coming down this week." The show, however will still be considered for the fall lineup. "The sets are on fold-and-hold," maintains the insider. "They will still be available if the show is picked up for the fall." This could be why David had to drop out of Burke and Hare:

Lots of David Tennant's fans believed that David missed the chance to play in the movie Burke and Hare due to Rex Is Not Your Lawyer being commissioned but it appears that it is because NBC has not yet made their decision so he is unable to commit to filming through until the end of March. David Tennant drops out of 'Burke and Hare'

David Tennant had be scheduled to star opposite Simon Pegg, but now he's had to drop out. According to Simon Pegg's Titter account:

David Tennant had to drop out of B&H but by sheer glorious serendipity a legend of Middle Earth and Skull Island has come aboard. Welcome AS

Director John Landis has cast Andy Serkis who will likely play William Hare. No one has announced why David dropped out yet, but maybe this is good news for his Rex Is Not Your Lawyer NBC pilot.

New trailer for 'The End of Time' + star in 'Burke and Hare' with David Tennant

Here's the new TV trailer for Doctor Who special, The End of Time, Part One:


The End of Time, Part One will air on BBC America on December 26 at 9pm ET/PT.

Okay, this is cutting it close, but there's still a little time to audition as an extra in Burk and Hare:

Thugs, footmen, dignitaries, doctors, and ladies of the night are being sought for a new comedy feature film about Edinburgh's famous grave-robbers-turned-murderers Burke and Hare. Universal Extras are holding auditions for the parts at the Tolbooth in Stirling on Thursday 17th December from 9am to 5pm (people can turn up any time on the day according to the announcement).

It is an exciting project considering that the film is being made by John Landis, the director behind comedy classics such as the Blues Brothers, Trading Places, An American Werewolf in London, and Animal House.

Among the stars lined up are Simon Pegg as William Burke, Bill Nighy, Dan Aykroyd, Minnie Driver and John Cleese.

Set in 19th Century Edinburgh, the black comedy follows the two miscreants as they get into the grave-robbery business after discovering a body in their house and realising that fresh corpses can yield a pretty penny when delivered promptly to Edinburgh's pioneering medical school.

When the two start cutting corners, killing to order instead of digging up stiffs from the graveyard like other "resurrectionists", they soon attract the attentions of the authorities.

With the law closing in, Hare persuades Burke that they should raise a last bit of cash to go straight and open a funeral parlour.

The open call for extras on the Universal Extras bulletin board states:

"Parts available in this truly full of laughter feature film will include you playing role(s) such as; Thugs, Students, Pub goers, Footmen, Dignitaries, Doctors, Market sellers, Ladies of the Night and many more! Payment per filming day will be around £80. The role you are selected for will determine what you will be paid and the amount of days you will be required for over February and March 2010." David and Sean Connery are among the five People's Choice candidates added to the list for the Greatest Scot award:

THE TV search gets under way next week for The Greatest Scot - and today we name the five People's Choice candidates to join the existing list of 30.

A panel of experts has already chosen the 30 names, who will be featured during a week-long STV series, which will be screened on five consecutive nights starting at 9pm on Monday.

The programmes will also feature a different People's Choice candidate every evening chosen by Record readers and STV viewers.

And from Monday you will have the chance to vote for the Greatest Scot.

The overall winner will be revealed on a St Andrew's Day results show on November 30 when STV's Stephen Jardine will count down the top five nominees and unveil the people's all-time Greatest Scot.

The winner will be marked with a permanent piece of art by a Scottish artist which will be donated to the nation. [The Daily Record]

David Tennant cast in 'Burke and Hare'

David Tennant has been cast alongside Simon Pegg in Burke and Hare. The film's director John Landis made the announcement over the weekend at the Spooky Empire convention in Orlando, Florida.

Burke and Hare focuses on William Burke and William Hare, a pair of serial killers who sold the corpses of their victims to Edinburgh Medical College in the late 1820s. David will play William Hare. Ewan McGregor had once been rumored to be attached to the film, which is a remake of sorts, but it looks like it will finally get made.
