Disney•Pixar’s ‘Brave’ to Join ‘World of Color’ at Disney California Adventure Park

Since “World of Color” made its debut back in 2010, the show has featured occasional updates and surprises, delighting audiences with forays into new worlds ranging from “TRON: Legacy” to “Prep & Landing.” Just in time for one of the biggest summers in Disney California Adventure park history, “World of Color” is set to introduce another new sequence, inspired by the Disney•Pixar film “Brave.”

Set to “Brave” composer Patrick Doyle’s stirring Scottish score, the sequence introduces us to the film’s adventurous heroine Merida, as she races across the Scottish Highlands, bow and arrow in hand, on her faithful horse Angus, and follows the mysterious will o’ the wisps on an epic journey to change her fate.

Brave” opens in theatres on June 22, but you’ll be able to catch the “Brave”-inspired sequence in “World of Color” starting June 15.

Disney want Scot with ginger hair to play Brave heroine at theme park in America

Disney have launched a worldwide search for redheads to play their latest heroine Princess Merida at their US theme parks.

The star of new animated film Brave is a feisty Scot and a crack shot with a bow and arrow.
And studio bosses say their ideal candidate would be a Gaelic-speaking Scot.

In the film, out in June, flame-haired Merida is voiced by Scots star Kelly Macdonald and Disney are keen that the theme park character should have the same distinctive accent.

Shawn Slater, communications manager at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said: “Merida is impetuous, rough and tumble, strong-willed, determined and playful.
“We would prefer to find someone who has the right hair and accent already but if the candidate isn’t perfect, we also have dialect coaches, and wigs.”

Wannabe warrior princesses must be at least 16, authorised to work in America and will be paid £7.80 an hour. They could be based at either Disneyland in California or Walt Disney World in Florida where versions of her Highland castle home are now being built.

Shawn said: “Merida is a skilled archer and our creative teams wanted to incorporate archery into the experience.
“There will actually be sets of bows and arrows – safe ones– that children can use to practise.”

Brave tells the story of the reluctant heir to the throne. Merida’s parents King Fergus and Queen Elinor – voiced by Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson – are determined to find her a suitable husband. But Merida refuses, instead invoking an ancient curse.

Billy Connolly set to entertain kids with poetry readings on Disney Junior channel

DISNEY have asked Billy Connolly to read poetry to pre-school children.
The veteran comedian will read two pieces on their new channel, Disney Junior, this Sunday.
He is one of several celebrities such as Ashley Jensen, Catherine Tate and Simon Pegg who will take part in A Poem Is.
They will narrate poems on Disney Junior to iconic images from the firm's animation history.
Billy kicks off the series on Sunday at 10am when he reads Robert Louis Stevenson's My Shadow while a scene from Peter Pan is shown.
Later this month, he will read John Howard Payne's Home, Sweet Home to scenes with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.
It's a far cry from 1974 when a routine called The Crucifixion - where he likened the Last Supper to a drunken night out in Glasgow - was banned by radio stations.
Now a grandfather, 68, Billy has become a favourite in family films such as Gulliver's Travels and Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events.
He will star in Disney and Pixar's Scottish movie Brave, released next year.
