Atonement goes for Oscar gold!

Atonement scored seven Oscar nominations this morning, and though Scottish actor, James McAvoy didn't get a nomination, one of his co-stars did. The film's seven nominations are for best supporting actress (Saoirse Ronan), art direction (Sarah Greenwood, Katie Spencer), cinematography (Seamus McGarvey), costume design (Jacqueline Durran), music (Dario Marianelli), adapted screenplay (Christopher Hampton), and best picture of the year (Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, ad Paul Webster - Focus Features).

The Kite Runner which stars Scottish actor Khalid Abdalla also scored a nomination for best music (Alberto Iglesias).

There the entire list of nominees can be found on the official Oscar website.

  2. Thanks for posting! I was so dissapointed when James wasn't nominated for the Oscar? No love for the Last King of Scotland, no love for Atonement - what does the Academy have against this guy?

  3. Had not seen 'Last King' until just recently - NOW I understand why James is getting all these movie roles!

Johnny & Viggo are deserving for sure, but 'Michael Clayton' was not that good - George is better in the 'Ocean' films! (I see them all, I work at a movie theater!) :-)

  4. I wish I worked in a movie theatre! I agree about Johnny and Viggo's nomiations - they totally deserved it, but I haven't seen Micheal Clayton yet. From what you say about George Clooney's performance though, it sounds like James was robbed. At least he was nominated for a BAFTA award.
