After Saturday's White House Correspondents’ Dinner Ewan and his wife, Ève Mavrakis appeared at Sunday's brunch hosted by Robert Allbritton. Ewan and Ève took some photos (via Best of Ewan) with Christiane Amanpour and Chris Matthews.

Ewan McGregor, the Scottish star of “Star Wars,” “Moulin Rouge” and “Trainspotting,” said he thoroughly enjoyed the dinner — especially being in the same room as Obama.

“It was quite magical. I felt the hairs on my neck stand up,” McGregor said.

McGregor and his wife didn’t get to meet the president, but they vowed to return to Washington in the near future to tour the West Wing. (They did drive around to do a little night tour, seeing all the monuments lit up, they told POLITICO.) [POLITICO]

Summit picks up 'The Impossible' with Ewan McGregor, Ewan at the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Summit Entertainment has picked up the worldwide rights to Juan Antonio Bayona's The Impossible, which is set to star Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. Shooting is scheduled to begin in the summer, most likely in August.

Bayona reteams with the writer of that film, Sergio G. Sanchez, for a drama based around a true story set during and after the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004. The budget's set around $45 million, and, while exact plot details are under wraps, we found a Spanish article that states that "The aim of Bayona... is to recreate this natural disaster through a script with hints of horror and mystery and large doses of science fiction." The annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner is set to take place on May 1 and Ewan is among the celebrity guests invited. Other celebrities set to attend include Alec Baldwin, Anna Kendrick, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Moss, Fred Armisen, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Bon Jovi, Lindsey Vonn, and Mariska Hargitay.
