Fright Night premiere closes Empire’s BIG SCREEN weekend

Empire magazine’s BIG SCREEN weekend closed on Sunday with the premiere of Craig Gillespie’s Fright Night – a remake of the 1985 film starring Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale.

Star David Tennant attended the packed premiere at London’s O2 on the last night of a successful weekend of film and television related panels, Q&A’s and screenings.

In the film Tennant plans Peter Vincent, played by McDowall in the original, a Vegas entertainer and vampire expert.

When High school student Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) suspects neighbour Jerry Dandrige (Colin Farrell) is a vampire he turns to Vincent for help.

Speaking to seenit.co.uk ahead of the screening, Tennant told us: “there’s no attempt to what [McDowall] did, it’s a very different character. Probably of all the characters in the movie he’s the one that’s most repositioned.”
The former Doctor Who star said the new film “has some gruesome moments, some proper shocking, thrilling horror moments.”
