With Some Friends to Help, a Songwriter Reveals His World

The theatre songs of the up-and-coming composer Lance Horne, were recently performed in concert by a cast of his friends, including Alan Cumming.
Alan, who wrote the lyrics to “Next to You,” a naked, shamed-faced confession about returning home from a night of carousing to the comforting arms of an uncomplaining lover, sang it as though he were reliving the previous night’s follies.
