New international trailer for Nim's Island

You can check out the new Nim's Island trailer here - it has way more clips of Gerard Butler than the North American trailer. Just scroll down the page a little bit for the international trailer. Enjoy!

In more Gerard Butler news, the release date for his gangster film Rocknrolla has been pushed up four weeks from Oct. 3, 2008 to Oct. 31, 2008. Halloween with Gerard Butler sounds good to me.

Why John Barrowman is my hero

I found a great ad campaign at the Film Experience Blog that features Torchwood star John Barrowman. According to Towleroad, John recently took part in the ad campaign with gay rights group Stonewall to fight homophobic bullying in schools. Posters will be put in 53 locations in Scotland and in many others locations in parts of England and Wales all in the hopes of raising awareness about bullying and hate crimes.

Free advanced screening passes for Penelope

This website is offering 41 free screenings for 11 films including James McAvoy's upcoming film, Penelope, from Feb. 13 to Feb. 28. The screenings take place in California and Florida and you can go here for more information.

Ewan McGregor's new adventure

Here's a picture I found of Ewan McGregor's ad campaign for Davidoff Adventure at www.brandish.tv. I haven't seen it anywhere else before, so I believe that the picture has just been released. I apologize in advance if I'm wrong. According to CareFair.com Ewan will be appearing in print and television ads to promote the fragrance.

The Davidoff Adventure line includes an aftershave splash, hair and body shampoo, aftershave balm and deodorant stick. The fragrance itself comes in both 100ml and 50ml sized bottles. It should be available this month, but only in some European countries for now.

James McAvoy Breaks Through

James McAvoy may have lost the BAFTA to Daniel Day-Lewis, but the New York Times Magazine shows that James is one of the breakthrough actors of the year. You can watch a video that has a very gorgeous James talking about his early influences. He's featured after fellow British actor Jim Sturgess.

Can James McAvoy win his third BAFTA in a row?

Here's hoping. Luckily it has been confirmed that James McAvoy will be going to the ceremony. The 2008 The British Academy Film Awards ceremony is this Sunday, and if you live in the US, BBC America will air the BAFTAS Sun., Feb. 10th, at 8 pm et/7:30 pm pt, followed by two back-to-back encores. If you live in the US and don't want to know who wins before the show you'll probably want to avoid news or the internet for most of the day. I certainly don't want to know before I can watch the show, so I will not be posting about the winners (or losers) until after the 8 pm show is over.

Desmond's Motivation

There's a really good article on last week's Lost episode that I found. It examines why some of our favorite castaways (including Desmond, played by Henry Ian Cusick) decided to go with Locke and survive, and why others decided to stay with Jack and be rescued. I just hate having to wait for Thursday nights!

Could James McAvoy still go to the Oscars?

According to Awards Daily Los Angeles radio stations reported that the Writers Guild of America has reached a preliminary deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. This means there may be an Oscar ceremony on Feb. 24th after all. Neither the WGA nor the AMPAS have made any statements, and are not expected to make any until next week. Please Lord, let there be Oscars. Who's for seeing Atonement win an Oscar?

James McAvoy is everywhere

It sure feels like that anyway. Penelope opens today in the UK and will open in the US at the end of the month, his Oscar nominated film Atonement will be released on HD DVD in the UK on March 10, 2008, and he was one of the winners of the 2008 Virtuosos Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. You can watch a video of James' red carpet interview at the Santa Barbara Film Festival below (his interview is second, after Casey Affleck's) :
