Dougray Scott's 'Last Passenger' given the greenlight

Dougray Scott's Last Passenger marks the second script greenlit with the help of cash from U.K. studio facilities operator Pinewood Shepperton via its low-budget movie investment fund.

Written and directed by Omid Nooshin, the project is billed as a thriller and details the story of a doctor who finds himself on a runaway commuter train and also stars Kara Tointon.

Budgeted at just north of £1.2 million ($2.5 million), the movie is also bankrolled by Future Film and the BFI Film Fund.

Pathe is handling international sales and inked deal memos with nine territories including Russia, Brazil, Turkey and Portugal during this year’s Festival de Cannes on the back of a dummy trailer for the film.

Pinewood Shepperton is aiming to back four films a year from first-timers, with a combined budget of around $13 million.

Earlier this year, the group pushed cash into the Simon Pegg's A Fantastic Fear of Everything, co-directed by Crispian Mills and Chris Hopewell.
