Gerard Butler at the Artists for Haiti Benefit + new 'How To Train Your Dragon' interview

Gerard was at the Artists for Haiti Benefit, hosted by Olivia Wilde and Artists for Peace and Justice to raise money Haiti last Thursday. Here are photos of Gerry at the event:

Gerard did interview with the Daily Record and you can read an excerpt below. Craig Ferguson is also mentioned in the article. You can read the whole interview at the Daily Record.
...although his fellow thespian is tall and good looking, Gerry is happy to keep Craig Ferguson as "just good friends" on the set of their new film How To Train Your Dragon.

"I wouldn't be surprised if I was linked to Craig," chuckled Gerard. "But maybe they'll come up with a way to say I had an affair with the dragon. Or that I had sex with all of them."

...there was role open for one of Gerard's oldest friends, Craig Ferguson, who has carved himself a career as one of America's top chat show hosts, earning an estimated $4million a year.

"I met Craig when I was a student at Glasgow University and Craig was doing stand-up around Scotland," recalled Gerard. Gerard, 40, and Craig, 47, have stayed in touch ever since and Craig even had a bit part as himself in Gerard's recent romantic comedy, The Ugly Truth.

"The bosses of How To Train Your Dragon reckon Craig and Gerard were able to draw on their friendship to convincingly play a Viking hero and his oldest pal.

But Craig and Gerard admit that their characters may sound like them - but onscreen the strapping Scotsmen look very different.

Gerard's Stoick has red flowing locks and an enormous bushy beard while Craig's Gobber has blond braids and has lost an arm and a leg in battles with dragons. But the two men got into the roles by dressing up while recording their voices for the film.

Gerard said: "I would try to wear something evocative of the period, instead of the usual T-shirt and jeans. A say baggyish shirt just made me feel closer to the period."

Craig joked: "I wore full Viking costume. It was difficult because you could hear my breastplate clink, and it drove the microphone people mad.

"But if you're going to make a movie with me, you've got to be prepared for unreasonable behaviour." [Siobhan Synnot]

In other news, Gamer is now at the top of all three home video charts. It's the top selling DVD, top rental and top Blu-ray seller in the US.

Gerard Butler talks new Evil Twins project

Gerard did an interview over at Film School Rejects as part of the Law Abiding Citizen press tour. The highlight of the interview was Gerry's revelation that his production company, Evil Twins is working an a new project:

And what is Evil Twins working on now?

There’s a few different projects that we’ve been working on, but there’s one in particular – it’s a movie called Slide about a former baseball player who goes back to try and patch things up with his child and estranged wife and ends up coaching the kid’s baseball team. He becomes the subject of fascination and longer by every bored house wife in the town. And it’s him trying to survive that while trying to patch things up with his kid. I think we’re going to have GM direct the movie. Hopefully. We’re in talks with him, and he’s very much up for directing it so we’ll what happens there.

In other movie news, Gamer will debut on DVD and Blu-ray in the US on January 19, 2010.

Gerard is one of the winners in the Hollywood Film Festival. He had the highest percentage of votes at 25%.

Gerard Butler's USA Today interview

Thanks so much to sassynach for reminding us about Gerard's interview. I'v posted an excerpt and you can go here for the full article:
I don't know if I'm the best actor out there, but I definitely have, how would you say? I have a lot of range," says the Scot, who can bury the brogue on command and manage a convincing American accent thanks to "easily 1,000" sessions with about 30 dialect coaches.

That variety is key to his industry appeal, Hollywood insiders say. "He's definitely keeping his foot in the fact that he can be the action guy in some of the choices he's making, but he's also incredibly funny, charming and a ladies' man," says RocknRolla producer Susan Downey, who's producing another Ritchie flick, the upcoming Sherlock Holmes starring her husband, Robert Downey Jr.

...For Gamer, Butler has swapped Leonidas' swords for submachine guns and his Mr. America abs for Popeye-like arms to play Kable, a death-row prisoner who's competing in the shoot-'em-up game Slayers for a chance at freedom. The man at the joystick controlling him, and his destiny, is a 17-year-old kid.

Starz will air a preview of Gamer, which will include interviews. You can go to the show's site for a schedule. The first airing will be Thursday, September 3 on Starz at 5:15pm Eastern time.

Spike TV will also be airing Resident Evil on Friday at 9pm Eastern with a Sneak Preview of Gamer with an interview featuring Gerard.

New Gerard Butler interview

Gerard did an interview with the AP to promote Gamer, Law Abiding Citizen, and Bounty Hunter. Here's an excerpt from the interview which you can read in full here:

AP: Movies like "300" and "Gamer" tout a violent vision of tough-guy masculinity not seen in many films these days. Is that a subject you're drawn to?

BUTLER: I am very much a man and I naturally bring a masculinity to those roles. Mike Chadway in "The Ugly Truth," for example, could have been played in many different ways. ... But I also think I'm attracted to roles where guys get to talk about the mythical struggle of guys and what it is to be a man.

AP: You've also become a sex symbol, a role you've made light of but acknowledged is mostly to the good.

BUTLER: I joke with that because it's way better to be appreciated than to not be appreciated. For anybody to blow it off and dismiss it, they're either insane or they're just not being honest or they're being extremely arrogant. ... As you're saying that, my natural response is going to be, "Well, I don't really see it." But then again, I do — just on the street sometimes.

Gerard Butler talks Gamer

Gerry will be on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien tonight and will also appear at the world premiere of The Ugly Truth. I'll update you guys on all that as soon as I can. Until then, Gerard did an interview with SciFi Wire to promote Gamer:

"It's what you'd expect if you lived in that world," Butler said in an exclusive telephone interview a few weeks ago while promoting his latest film, The Ugly Truth. "It doesn't stop. It really doesn't let up for a second, even in terms of the drama. I saw it for myself a few weeks ago, and I was blown away. I was so happy with how it turned out."

Butler said the film also delivers on other fronts. "It's a riot," he said. "It's very funny as well. That's what's cool about it. It has the ability to send itself up and not take itself too seriously. But at the same time it gives us a poignant message about the dangers of where entertainment and technology can take us." [SciFi Wire via GB.net]

You can go here for the rest of the interview.
