The 500 greatest movies of all time

Empire magazine brings us the 500 greatest movies of all time. Personally I think some of the choices are just either bad or very strange (Gremlins anyone?), some of Bogarts best films are not on, though thankfully the great Paul Newman's films show up quite a lot. Anyway here are the movies with Scottish actors they included:

449. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Ewan McGregor

442. Atonement - James McAvoy

432. X-Men 2 - Alan Cumming

376. Zodiac - Brian Cox

337. 300 - Gerard Butler

330. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - Ewan McGregor
320. Braveheart - Tommy Flanagan
211. Moulin Rouge! - Ewan McGregor
186. United 93 - Khalid Abdalla
151. Gladiator - Tommy Flanagan

130. The Man Who Would be King - Sean Connery

54. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - Billy Boyd

34. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - Billy Boyd

24. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - Billy Boyd

The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner may have only been released a week ago in the US, but it's had high praise from critics for months now. Guardian Unlimited has a wonderful article on the movie, starring Scottish actor n the rise, Khalid Abdalla, and makes an unlikely comparison between the film and another award worthy epic, Atonement. Since December 14, the film has earned over US$700,885 on just 377 across the US and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. Here's a trailer for the film. Enjoy!

Gerard Butler and James McAvoy have a lot in common

They're Scottish and they're hot. And the editors of the Daily Record seem to think so too. The Daily Record just released their picks for the 100 hottest Scots and a good deal of them are actors. From Khalid Abdalla (who is marvelous in recently released The Kite Runner) to Doctor Who himself, David Tennant, go here to find out who else made the grade and how they ranked.
