Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston to team up

There were reports in November that Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler were going to star in The Goree Girls, a movie musical Jennifer was also producing. However, there are now reports that both actors are in negotiations to star in an untitled comedy at Columbia. The film, according to Variety is about a "bounty hunter (Gerard Butler) hired to retrieve his ex-wife (Jennifer Aniston), who has skipped bail." The film is scheduled to start shooting in May of 2009.

Despite what the tabloid magazines keep reporting Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston have actually been meeting to discuss casting Gerard in The Goree Girls, a movie Jennifer Aniston is producing and starring in. The Goree Girls is a musical set in the 1940s. Here's the plot of the movie from Cinematical:

MSN describes the plot as a semi-true story inspired by Skip Hollandsworth's article "O Sister Where Art Thou." It's actually a pretty cool story of the first female country-and-western musicians who just happened to be prison inmates. Hollandsworth's article is definitely worth reading for the whole story, which is a pretty heartbreaking one, despite the relatively happy ending.

I wonder if Gerard Butler's character will be doing any singing in the movie. It would be great to hear Gerard sing again.
