Alan Cumming in 'Macbeth

Double, double, toil and trouble…Things are about to get creepy at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre thanks to Macbeth star Alan Cumming, and the Tony winner will share the spooky experience as Broadway.com’s newest video blogger! The acclaimed actor is bringing his one-man adaptation of the Scottish Play to Broadway on April 7, and he’ll document all of the offstage happenings (and possible scary visitors!) in his brand new video blog, The Cumming Attraction.

Set in a psychiatric ward, Cumming’s dark and frightening one-man Macbeth revisits the Shakespearian tragedy in the mind of a lone patient. The actor plays every role, using multimedia to reinterpret the Bard’s classic text.

Alan Cumming: new concert date, fashion video appearance, Richard III audio

Extra show added for Liza and Alan Cumming!
2ndshowposter.jpg
From The Village Voice:
Last year in Cherry Grove, Daniel Nardicio presented Alan Cumming and special guest Liza Minnelli in concert, and it became the buzzy event of the whole gay summer.
Those two were pretty delectable together. (And there was that Cabaret connection, so seeing them do a cabaret act made "duh" kind of sense.)
Well, they're coming back as a duo, this time to Town Hall on March 13--a day after Liza's 67th birthday.
And Liza's added a full band, and she and Alan are working on new material so it's not going to be a replica of the Fire Island shows.
The formula totally clicks.
In fact, Nardicio tells me that tickets flew so quickly that he's added a second show for the next night!
And suddenly the sound you hear from certain neighborhoods is "Maybe this time, I'll get tickets. Maybe this time, I'll win...."

STAGE TUBE: Alan Cumming makes appearance in HAPPY TEARS film
These so called "Happy Tears" shoot through our veins like free flowing dopamine and leave us comfortably cringing. The prints, cuts and materials from this collection are reminiscent of the feeling of coming home and at the same time letting go. This intimately familiar laugh echoes through our memories and seizes us suddenly and unexpectedly - whether we want it to or not. This power is reflected in Zigerli's collection. The harmonic assortment surprises with its practicality, details and colors that make ones pulse race.
Since his first collection, Julian Zigerli has produced new collection videos for every season. In collaboration with new directors for each video, the idea is to use the video as a creative output to translate the concept and idea of a collection on a visual and more experimental level.

The concept behind the collection video was to develop a true cross-border collaboration between not only different artists, but also between different film genres. While staying true to the fashion video essence of creating an intense aesthetic experience, the aim was to be as narrative and cinematic as possible. Testament to this ambition is the stunning cameo of actor Alan Cumming who agreed to back this project and bring his own twist to the look and feel of this beautifully shot short film.

Shot on location and with the kind support of The Empire Hotel New York.

Barrowman forced to cancel concert

Singer, television presenter and actor John Barrowman has been forced to cancel his Blackpool concert because of the severe weather.

The 45-year-old Doctor Who and Torchwood star was forced to axe his show at the Tower Festival Headland venue last night, on health and safety grounds because of a forecast of further bad weather.

Concert promoter Cuffe and Taylor said it had been advised by local organiser Marketing Blackpool that the weather made it "unsafe for our teams to install the sound and lighting equipment for this evening's concert".

John said: "I am deeply disappointed that Mother Nature has had the final say on my concert in Blackpool. I've been following the forecast very closely all week!

"Obviously, I really want to perform for my fans, however, the safety of fans and my technical team is of the utmost importance and I have to follow the advice of the organisers. I promise that I will be back to Blackpool very soon."

Cuffe and Taylor said it had arranged for all ticket holders to receive a full refund of the face value of their tickets.

Barrowman to wow crowds at Hampton Court Palace Festival

Torchwood star John Barrowman guarantees festival-goers a great time at his upcoming performance on the closing night of this year’s Hampton Court Palace Festival.

The star of stage and screen shares with Meg Kiseleva his excitement at taking part in the famous festival on Sunday, June 24.

It will be a bonus night for visitors and will be Barrowman’s only London stage appearance this year.

He says: “Coming to perform at Hampton Court Palace is like coming home.

“This will be my first time taking part in this festival so I’m looking forward to it, particularly that I’m the actor who closes the whole thing - which means that I can see the fireworks.”

There will be a diverse range of songs, including hits from the West End.

“I guarantee that people are going to have a great night of entertainment. There will be a piece of music for everybody,” he says. The Hampton Court Festival is a great opportunity to spend the weekend in a traditional British way, enjoying food and drink and listening to music.

Although the concert starts at 9pm, palace gates will open at 5.30pm so visitors will have a chance to spend an evening in the beautiful setting and enjoy the midsummer evening.

Barrowman says: “It’s great for people to do concerts in the open air, because it lets you celebrate the kind of whole British psyche in that way, where people can go out, have a couple of drinks, bring a picnic and have dinner while they are watching the show.”
