  • The Politician's Husband
David Tennant will play the title role in The Politician's Husband for the BBC.

It is a series of three hour long episodes and is being produced by Mentorn-owned Daybreak Pictures to air during 2013 on BBC Two. The synopsis is:
"The Politician's Husband is a drama exploring what happens in a political marriage when the wife becomes more successful than her husband.
Aiden Hoynes, a senior Cabinet Minister, is happily married to Freya, a junior Minister who has consistently put her own career ambitions on hold for the sake of Aiden's career and their family.
When Aiden's career path to the top echelons comes to an abrupt halt, the power balance within his marriage is irrevocably shifted as he witnesses his wife's political career soar.
In his desperation to cling to power, Aiden risks destroying everything he holds most dear."

David Tennant: new TV series, 'True Love' update, video interview

  • David Tennant to star in new ITV drama

The Sun reports that the former Doctor Who actor will play a police officer in a forthcoming ITV drama series inspired by the hit Scandinavian drama series The Killing which stars Sofie Grabol and airs on BBC Four in the UK. The new drama will be made by Kudos whose previous hits include spy drama Spooks and con-drama Hustle.

“This is not just another detective show with a quirky sleuth. There is more to it. It will be in the same vein as The Killing in that it will be suspenseful — just when you think you know what’s going on, David’s character will turn the whole thing on its head. It’s a challenging role but one he is relishing.”
– A “source” quoted by The Sun.

The drama is expected to begin filming later this year for broadcast in January 2013.

David Tennant shot to fame in BBC drama Casanova which led to him being cast as the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who. Tennant starred in the BBC sci-fi series until 2010 when he handed over to Matt Smith – he also appeared in spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures in 2009.

Since leaving Doctor Who the actor has made a wide variety of roles appearing in BBC One drama Single Father opposite Suranne Jones, narrating BBC comedy series Twenty Twelve, Sky comedy This Is Jinsy and is currently filming new BBC Four drama Spies of Warsaw.

David Tennant: 'True Love' & 'The Spies of Warsaw' updates

True Love
The BBC have released some promotional pictures of former Doctor Who David Tennant and companion Billie Piper from an upcoming BBC drama, True Love

This five-part series will be "stripped" across the week (Monday to Friday), starting June 18 on BBC One with Tennant's episode (Piper's is the third). Actor David Morrissey (The Next Doctor) is also set to star in an installment.

True Love explores five powerful and overlapping love stories set in the same town. Each story looks at a different relationship and explores a different dilemma or situation. When it comes to love and relationships, there is never an easy "right answer" – telling the truth is complicated, and the conflict of desire and responsibility can be explosive.

Watch an exclusive clip from The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists online now
The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists is setting sail for multiplexes soon, and we’ve got our hands on an exclusive clip!

The scene in question features Hugh Grant’s Pirate Captain being welcomed into the home of Charles Darwin (voiced by David Tennant).
The real star of the scene, though, is the ‘manpanzee’ himself. Apes have form when it comes to stealing scenes in movies, and Darwin’s well-trained butler is no exception.
The footage also serves as a good example of the atmospheric sets and insane attention-to-detail conjured up (in miniature) by the hardworking animators.
