Ewen Bremner: 'Snowpiercer' character passports

Character Passports Introduce the Inhabitants of Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Snowpiercer’
Snowpiercer - Ewen Bremner

Snowpiercer is Korean director Bong Joon-ho‘s first English-language outing, but he’s managed to assemble a cast even the most experienced Hollywood directors would kill for, including Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, John Hurt, Ed Harris, Chris Evans, and Song Kangho.
We’ve seen little of those stars so far, aside from a poster here and a still image there, but today we have much better looks at all of them thanks to a series of character “passports.”

Ewen Bremner: 'Snowpiercer' poster and interview

First poster for SNOWPIERCER officially released

We originally saw part of the Snowpiercer poster months ago but it was in low-resolution and was missing a tag line. Also, listen to two actors, John Hurt ("Contact") and Ewen Bremner ("Trainspotting"), as they discuss the film.

"In Snowpiercer I play kind of a... because there is kind of a microcosm of humanity all on a train, which is going all around the globe. You know, in a small ice age. Um it all sounds a bit preposterous, but the fact is that it's based on a graphic novel, which is a French graphic novel from round about the 80's. So, it is... kind of not real in that sense. It creates it's own reality, you'll see what I mean. And I'm playing an erstwhile leader, of revolutions, that is held in great regard by the young man who is leading the revolution at the moment. Because all the rift raft is at the back of the train and all the good ones live in the front of the train. So the revolution seizes through the train. And he (Joon-ho Bong) is a remarkable director. So, that is what I do there, but it turns out he is not as admirable as he might have been considered." - John Hurt

Snow Piercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
Snow Piercer is directed by Joon-ho Bong. The cast includes Chris Evans, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Alison Pill and Song-Kang-ho. The film will hit theaters Summer 2013.

Ewen Bremner to star in Snow Piercer

Ewen Bremner, best remembered as Spud from Trainspotting, has boarded Joon-ho Bong‘s Snow Piercer. The South Korean director’s first English-language film is an adaptation of the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, about a post-apocalyptic world covered in snow and ice. The only remaining humans are the passengers of the titular train, and tensions are running high between the classes.

Bremner is set to play a father who teams up with Chris Evans‘ character to rescue his kidnapped son. We’ve previously heard that Octavia Spencer would be playing a mother who gets involved in the brewing revolution in an attempt to save her son, so could it be that Bremner and Spencer’s characters are married to each other? Or is the kidnapping of sons just a common hobby in the future?

At any rate, the top-notch cast also inclues Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Jamie Bell, and Kang-ho Song. Snow Piercer will enter production shortly for a 2013 release.
