Dougray Scott: 'A Thousand Kisses Deep' coming to DVD

A Thousand Kisses Deep coming to DVD
A Thousand Kisses Deep stars Dougray Scott (My Week with Marilyn, Mission Impossible II), Jodie Whittaker (Attack the Block, One Day, St Trinians), Emilia Fox (BBC’s Silent Witness, The Pianist, Merlin) and English acting legend David Warner (Titanic, Tron). The film is as electrifying as it is ambitious and comes to DVD 4 February 2013.

Witnessing the tragic and apparent suicide of an elderly woman, Mia (Whittaker) is left shattered and unnerved as she finds on the deceased a photograph of herself and her former lover (Scott).

Persuading a building’s custodian Max (Warner), Mia gains access to the woman’s flat hoping to find some answers to explain the tragedy. However, when inside, she finds only more questions as she is surrounded by her own possessions and an eerily familiarity.

Confused and disturbed, Mia is left fighting her past to see if she can change the future in this shocking and twisting psychological thriller.

Dougray Scott interviews - A Thousand Kisses Deep and Doctor Who

This Morning
Dougray Scott has been the object of affection for Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore, Michelle Williams and Teri Hatcher; was handpicked by Tom Cruise as his Mission Impossible villain, and transformed into the legendary playwright Arthur Miller in the Oscar nominated My Week with Marilyn.

Now the 46-year-old actor is travelling back (and forward) in time for a new role as the gorgeous and dangerous Ludwig Giroux in the film A Thousand Kisses Deep. Watch Dougray talk to This Morning about legends, housewives and why no woman can resist a bad boy...

First look at Dougray Scott in new poster, trailer & images from A Thousand Kisses Deep

Tomori Films have just served up the full works for their forthcoming film A Thousand Kisses Deep, namely a first look poster and trailer for the film as well as a smattering of images to tease and intrigue in equal measure.

The trailer does hint at the larger story in play here, and the synopsis seemingly gives everything away so be wary of this when you cast your eyes down.

Dougray Scott: A Thousand Kisses Deep cinema release date

Dougray Scott is to play jazz trumpeter in new film featuring music written for his character by Guy Barker. A new film called A Thousand Kisses Deep, starring Jodie Whittaker, Emilia Fox, David Warner, and Dougray Scott, is to be released in cinemas in June, Goldcrest Films have confirmed.

The film, a psychological thriller filmed in London, features Scott, who plays the part of Arthur Miller in My Week With Marilyn, here cast as jazz trumpeter Ludwig Giroux, a former lover of main protagonist Mia played by Jodie Whittaker, who returns home from work one day to find herself witnessing an aged woman leap from a window.

Immersing himself in deep research for the role, Scott took trumpet lessons while developing a wide knowledge of the jazz world the character would have found himself in. Director Dana Lusting says the film: “is a journey into your past. Our hero Mia goes back to her past, to reveal a dark secret so she can fix it and come out on the other end a better person, a more complete person.”

Scott, who narrated Jazz Voice at the London Jazz Festival in 2010, for the film collaborated with Jazz Voice’s musical director trumpeter Guy Barker in preparing for the role and says of Barker: “Guy has an extraordinary, unique sound. There are all different kinds of sounds you get from a trumpet, but Guy is pretty unique – he plays in the movie as well, as himself. He’s written a couple of pieces but Mike Moran the (source) composer has written a beautiful ballady sort of melody for the film and Guy has written a bluesy tune.” Barker says in publicity material for the film that he initially became involved with A Thousand Kisses Deep to play the trumpet and create the music that Dougray Scott will be miming to as Ludwig. “It’s been great watching Dougray take that challenge on and immerse himself in trumpet players and watching them. I know when we recorded the music I was in the recording booth and he stayed in there with me and I could feel his presence there watching my every move.”

Dougray Scott - A Thousand Kisses Deep premiere

19th Raindance Film Festival Line-Up Announced
Yesterday morning saw the unveiling of the line-up for the 19th annual Raindance Film Festival. 98 features from 38 countries will be screened from the 28th of September to the 9th of October at the Apollo Cinema in Piccadilly, making this the largest Raindance to date, and well worthy of the title of Europe’s leading independent film festival.
Specialising in edgy and alternative films, many of which are by first-time filmmakers, the festival received over 3000 submissions this year, with less than 100 making the cut. As the organisers put it, “it’s not that those other 2900+ films weren’t good; they just weren’t good enough. Raindance continues to grow, with the calibre of films and filmmakers improving every year and this year’s batch are the best yet”
The festival opens with Another Earth. This haunting indie sci-fi that has already been pounced on by Fox Searchlight was a hit at this year’s Sundance and receives its European Premier at Raindance. This is just one of 21 films receiving their European bow; an additional 8 are world premieres and a staggering 49 will be shown for the first time in the UK.
Other hotly anticipated titles include Black Pond, which stars the potentially hilarious pairing of Chris Langham and Simon Amstell. While Acts of Godfrey promises to be just as humorous with Harry Enfield and Simon Callow starring.
On a more serious note we have A Thousand Kisses Deep; a star studded cast including Dougray Scott, Jodie Whittaker and Emilia Fox star in a film about passion and betrayal.

New project for Dougray? Journo’s novel slated for movie
A former The Standard journalist is set to hit the big screen, with one of his novels picked up for development as a movie.
Tony Black, who worked at the Warrnambool newspaper from 2002-03, has published five books since returning to his native Scotland and gained acclaim in the crime genre.
Four of his books centre on alcoholic ex-journalist Gus Dury, who regularly finds himself drawn into investigating crimes that reveal the dark underbelly of Edinburgh.
It’s the Dury character that has attracted the attention of film-makers, with director Richard Jobson signing on to bring Long Time Dead — the fourth Dury book — to the big screen.
Jobson, who was a member of punk band The Skids before becoming a director, had success in 2008 with his festival-selected film New Town Killers.
Black confirmed that one of the stars of that film — Dougray Scott — is in talks to portray his anti-hero Dury.
Scott is best known for roles in such movies as Mission: Impossible II, Enigma and Ever After.
Black’s books have drawn positive reviews. Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh proclaimed Black to be “my favourite British crime author”. He has been named as one of the leading writers of “Tartan Noir” — the name bestowed upon the grim Scots crime tales he writes.
His latest book Truth Lies Bleeding was released to great acclaim at the Edinburgh Book Festival, according to the Edinburgh Evening News.
It’s unknown when the film version of Long Time Dead will see the light of day, but Jobson is believed to be starting work on the project once he completes his current movie.
