Ewan McGregor on Heart Breakfast

Ewan McGregor will make an appearance on Heart Breakfast (heart 106.2 in London) next Tuesday, May 5. If you miss it, you can listen to it here.

Sorry, for the rather light blogging this week guys - I've been moving out of my apartment to the apartment directly above it. It's a very convenient relocation, and I should be done unpacking my Sunday.

Henry Ian Cusick being sued for sexual harrasment

I honestly, don't know what to make of this. I hate speculation so here are the facts that have surfaced so far:

Henry Ian Cusick, who plays Desmond on the show "Lost," is being sued for sexual harassment.

Still developing.

EDIT; According to a lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court, Chelsea Stone claims that while working on the show, Cusick placed his hand on her buttocks and caressed the back of her body while making moaning sounds.

She also claims Cusick "placed his face on top of [her] breasts, moving his face from side to side." He then squeezed her breasts with his hands.

According to the lawsuit, approximately twelve days after this went down, Stone was let go. ABC and Grass Skirt Productions are also named as defendants. She is seeking unspecified damages.

Cusick's rep had no comment.

Entertainment Weekly's summer preview

Entertainment Weekly has revealed it's 20 summer movies they can't wait to see and Angels and Demons is number 3:

EW also has a profile of the upcoming The Ugly Truth out July 17:

How's this for a pitch? ''There's a lot of, shall I say, flagrant banging and swearing and climaxing and squealing,'' Luketic says of his new film, in which sparks fly between a priggish Sacramento morning-news-show
producer (Heigl) and the boorish shock jock (Butler) brought in to boost ratings. Luketic (Legally Blonde, 21) jumped aboard when Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal told him the studio had landed Heigl for the
female lead. ''I had just seen Knocked Up and thought she was a breath of fresh air,'' he says. ''You're always looking for that It Girl, and she seemed to have all the elements, with a new spin.''

For the likable brute, producers kept pushing Butler. ''I was skeptical,'' the director admits. ''The guy from 300? In a comedy with Katherine Heigl?'' So the two men went out for dinner, and Luketic says he was sold before they'd even placed their order. ''I was telling jokes and long, politically incorrect
stories,'' says Butler, who'd passed on several romantic comedies because he found them too soft. ''When I saw the script, I was like, 'Okay, this is me.' ''

Heigl wrapped production on Grey's Anatomy last spring only two days before filming began, so her rehearsal process consisted of a night of drinks with Luketic and Butler at the actress' house in L.A. How was the chemistry? ''Three alpha, outrageous people,'' Butler says.

'Wanted' reunites father and daughter

Someone at the IMDb board was kind enough to share this amazing story:

A man named Dirk Pratt was inspired after watching James McAvoy's character Google his name in Wanted. Pratt Googled his own name and found a 2007 message posted by the 27 year old daughter he thought had died as a child. You can watch the video of their reunion here.

We were fooled

Or at least I was anyway. The renaming of Game to Citizen Game really was an April Fools joke. Even though I think the joke was sort of lame, it has the honor of being the only movie related prank that I fell for. Mostly because it was a prank that happened on March 31 rather than on April 1. Despite this, Game will be renamed sometime in the future.

GerardButler.net shares some Game details:

A few other details from their interview with Collider.com:
* The release date is December 4, 2009 and not September 4.
* They have big plans for Comic Con 2009 in July.
* The test screenings for the film have been positive.

'Citizen Game' gets unnamed?

A few weeks ago Lionsgate Movies announced that Gerard Butler's Game would be renamed Citizen Game. But director Mark Neveldine says not so fast:

(Mr. Neveldine said the film's title has not switched to "Citizen Game," despite reports earlier this month.)[Watertown Daily Times]

Well, color me surprised and confused. Someone at IMDb suggested that the rename could have been an April Fool's joke. If it was, it was a pretty lame one. If it wasn't, it makes me wonder - what the heck is going on at Lionsgate? Or better yet: who is in charge of Lionsgate's Twitter account?

Amazon removed gay authored books from sale rankings

Now this is outrageous:

The internet retailer Amazon has denied any anti-gay cause for thousands of books about gay and lesbian topics losing their sales ranking over the past few days after they have been labelled as "adult" books. The "adult" books include Dr Who star, John Barrowman's autobiography.

Amazon previously ranked all books based on sales but over the past few days, thousands of books on gay topics have disappeared from the list. Authors including E.M. Forster, James Baldwin and even Dr Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman have seen their books disappear.

In a statement Amazon said the issues were caused by "a glitch in our system and it's being fixed." (Pink News)

Hmmm. Seems like a pretty selective "glitch" if you ask me. There is an online petition you can sign.

Update: This story just gets stranger and stranger. An imbecile A hacker is claiming responsibility for this mess. Others are claiming this is a trial story Amazon has sent out to distract people. I think the most bizarre thing of all is that Amazon makes it possible to censor books in the first place. Nathaniel from Film Experience ponders:

None of this solves the real problem (why are there ANY systems that allow customers to decide for other customers what is appropriate reading material?) or answers the real question (Why did Amazon originally defend this as policy?)

New film for James McAvoy?

Someone over at IMDb points us to a video with James McAvoy talking about shooting an independent film in Seattle called The Detail after he wraps up the play, Three Days of Rain. I won't post the video because it looks more like a personal video of James signing autographs outside the theater, but you can hear him talk about the new movie at 1:49 here.

Someone else also posted that the film might be titled Missing Detail, a movie that will be shot in Oregon and Washington. I haven't been able to find anything else about this movie though, so if someone knows anything feel free to share details.

ShoWest: Sony unveils 'Angels and Demons' and 'The Ugly Truth'

Sony revealed extended footage of the studio's summer films today at ShoWest, including footage from Angels and Demons and The Ugly Truth. The reaction from the press was mostly positive:

From JoBo-

Angels and Demons

While I've been tough on ANGELS AND DEMONS based on the footage we've seen publicly so far, we were treated to a sizzle reel about five minutes long that's the best advertisement for the movie I've seen so far. I'm not saying the movie is definitely gonna rock your world but there's more reason to believe. They wisely played up a little bit of Hanks' humor in the film to lighten up the otherwise heavy proceedings.

The Ugly Truth

Speaking of movies I've been hard on, I don't think I've had many pleasant things to say about this Katherine Heigl romantic comedy. But as much as I hate to admit it, the world doesn't revolve around me and the UGLY TRUTH footage they showed played extremely well. It was basically scenes from the trailer expanded a bit with two scenes from the middle of the movie. First Katherine Heigl accidentally wears a pair of vibrating panties out to a work dinner. A little kid picks up the controller and starts pushing all the buttons while she starts moaning and jumping.

The next scene was at a baseball game where Gerard Butler is trying to teach Heigl how to get this guy interested. She accidentally spills a drink on his pants and she frantically tries to wipe it off. She's caught by the jumbotron cam and it looks like she's giving him a handjob.

Both scenes killed and as much as I hate to admit it, were pretty cute for a Katerine Heigl romantic comedy. Could be a surprise comedy hit this summer because.....the other comedy footage shown wasn't as much of a hit.

'Game' gets renamed

From GerardButler.net:
Lionsgate Movies has announced, via their Twitter page, that Game has been renamed “Citizen Game” and the release date is September 4, 2009.
I think there's going to be a lot of confusion between Citizen Game and Law Abiding Citizen.

Kevin McKidd and Rachael Ray

Kevin McKidd appeared on the Rachael Ray Show this morning. The full interview that was uploaded to youtube is not the best quality, but you can go here to check it out.
