James McAvoy doesn't come off as a major movie star. I have always thought of him as that guy in the smaller film I liked. However, he has recently proved to be something of a powerhouse in a pair of smaller flicks as well as a 2008 blockbuster. McAvoy, I felt, was robbed when it came to The Last King of Scotland as all the attention went to Forest Whitaker even though McAvoy carried the entire film. He was also fantastic opposite Keira Knightley in Atonement. The boy can act, no denying. However, you also have to be able to carry the blockbusters as well. With Wanted in 2008 the majority of the attention was obviously on Angelina Jolie, but McAvoy held his own and with the promise of a Wanted 2 those that already saw the film know McAvoy will be at the heart of it. Can he carry it to box-office glory?
If there are any Ewan fans who live in Albuquerque, New Mexico this news might interest you:
Film stars George Clooney and Ewan McGregor are heading to New Mexico to shoot their new movie Men Who Stare at Goats, the movie's publicist says.
The film, which reportedly will co-star Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges, is based on British journalist Jon Ronson's non-fiction book by the same name.
Rob Harris, the movie's publicist, told the Albuquerque Journal the film is expected to start shooting in northern New Mexico this November.
Ronson's book is about the U.S. Army's alleged experimentation with psychological warfare techniques, including its attempts to use brain waves to kill goats and rock music to torture suspects, the newspaper noted.

THE SKINNY: Despite being titled THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS, George Clooney's next film has nothing to do with farm animals (unfortunately).
With Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey, and Jeff Bridges in talks to co-star, the movie will be featuring an all-star cast. Based on the book by the Guardian columnist Jon Ronson, GOATS follows reporter Bob Wilton (McGregor) and former U.S. military psychic soldier Lyn Cassady (Clooney) who travel through Iraq to explore the supposedly real secret Army unit tasked with creating soldiers with paranormal powers.
Grant Heslov will be directing from a script by Peter Straughan. Clooney and Heslov's Smoke House and Paul Lister are producing, with Allison Owen exec producing.
McGregor next appears in ANGELS & DEMONS, I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS, and AMELIA.
News...comes amidst buzz that Grey's will likely upgrade Kevin McKidd to a full-time series regular before the season is out. As I mentioned in this week's Ask Ausiello, the ex-Journeyman, who debuts in the Sept. 25 season premiere as a former Iraq doc with eyes for Cristina, is winning everyone over on the Grey's set.I'm excited! Fingers crossed this season does not turn into a snooze fest like last season.
Adapted here for the screen by writer-director Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones' Diary), Chris Cleave's original novel is the story of a young woman whose husband and four-year-old son are killed in a massive suicide bomb attack on a packed London football stadium.Source
