Billy Boyd is
set to join the cast of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Radio Show – Live
when it opens at the Theatre Royal Glasgow.
The Lord of
the Rings star will play the role of the Voice of the Book for both
performances on June 8 and 9.
Director of
the show, Dirk Maggs, said of Bily’s involvement: "Part of the fun of the
Hitchhiker's Tour is the chance to involve guest stars to play The Voice Of The
Book.
“It's even
more fun that we can bring in talent of the calibre of Billy Boyd – not only a
native Glaswegian but with a strong connection to Douglas Adams - Billy played
Richard Macduff in the radio adaptations of Douglas's Dirk Gently novels."
The
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy became an instant and enduring classic on its
launch as a radio series.
Members of
the legendary Radio and TV casts have been reunited for these live
performances, led by Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, bringing to life the
characters written for them in highlights from the entire Hitchhiker's Saga.
They are
joined on stage by a series of VIP Guest Voices of the Book and supporting
actors from “hitchhikers” in all its phases. Each event is being recorded and
will be available to download afterwards.
