Photography starts for 'Theatre of Dreams' football film

Principle photography for ‘Britflick’ Theatre of Dreams, starring Brian Cox as Sir Matt Busby, has started in Manchester.

Shooting will take place across Manchester, Salford and Bolton during September and October 2011 for the film, which tells the fictional story of Sir Matt Busby who helps 11-year-old tearaway Georgie (played by 10-year-old Jack Smith from Tameside, pictured) fulfil his footballing dream, whilst putting his own demons of the Busby Babes to rest.

Directed by Manchester-born David Scheinmann, the film will be distributed in the UK in 2012 by Trinity Films, who are also co-financing.

At Easter, the BBC aired a drama about Manchester United's Busby Babes and Bobby Charlton, starring Dougray Scott and David Tennant.
