Alan Cumming launches fragrance
In the basement club of the Ace Hotel on Thursday, the actor Alan Cumming and the perfumer Christopher Brosius celebrated "2nd (Alan) Cumming," the fragrance they created together. It was first launched in 2005, but demand overwhelmed the pair, and they shut the project down. This time, Mr. Brosius said, they're both prepared for success and committed to giving all proceeds "and then some" to two charities.
The first, which Mr. Cumming selected, is the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission. Mr. Brosius's charity is the LGBT SmokeFree Project, a program that helps people quit smoking, a feat that continues to elude him. Mr. Brosius admitted that cigarettes did blunt his smelling capacities, but it was "more like wearing sunglasses on a really bright day."
