James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff expecting first child

James and Anne-Marie's spokesman, Rupert Fowler announced that they are expecting their first child. James, Helen Mirren, and director Michael Hoffman talked about the news at the London premiere of The Last Station:

"It's excellent, it feels really great. I'm totally looking forward to being a dad. She looks fantastic. It's a Mc-Duff adventure," he said...

Co-star Mirren, who wowed in a purple Lindka Cierach dress, told of her excitement for the couple.

"I'm pleased, it's fantastic. It's wonderful news and it couldn't happen to a greater couple," she said.

"I've known Anne-Marie for a long time, long before I knew James. They're a great, great couple, both unbelievably talented, both extremely nice and hard-working and professional, so it's going to be a great baby."

Update on Gerard Butler's 'Burns' biopic

Scottish actors Brian Cox and John Hannah might be cast in the film. Oh, and there's this too:

Gerard Butler will reportedly bare all in an upcoming film.

The Law Abiding Citizen star has been lined up to portray Scottish poet and lyricist Robert Burns in a racy new movie directed by Vadim Jean.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, Jean said: "Gerard and I are both totally committed to the film. There's plenty of sex and nude scenes in it.

"[Burns] was a notorious rake of his time. We are not whitewashing Burns by any means. He was a complicated character and to do justice to his story is not a simple thing."

Scottish actors Brian Cox and John Hannah have also been tapped to appear in the film, but there has been no decision made as to who will play the lead female role of Burns's love Jean Armour. [Digital Spy]

NBC delays 'Rex is Not Your Lawyer'?

NBC had originally been hoping to get Rex Is Not Your Lawyer with David Tennant to air in one of its 10pm time slots in the spring to replace the Jay Leno Show. But according to one of Michael Ausiello's sources "The sets are coming down this week." The show, however will still be considered for the fall lineup. "The sets are on fold-and-hold," maintains the insider. "They will still be available if the show is picked up for the fall." This could be why David had to drop out of Burke and Hare:
Lots of David Tennant's fans believed that David missed the chance to play in the movie Burke and Hare due to Rex Is Not Your Lawyer being commissioned but it appears that it is because NBC has not yet made their decision so he is unable to commit to filming through until the end of March. Gerard Butler and Ewan McGregor at the Hope for Haiti Now telethon

Gerard Butler and Ewan McGregor were among the celebrity phone operators at Friday's Hope for Haiti Now telethon. I've posted a few photos of Gerard and Ewan answering phones.
Hope for Haiti Now, will benefit Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, Yele Haiti Foundation, and the newly formed Clinton Bush Haiti Foundation. Proceeds from Hope for Haiti Now will be split among each organization’s individual funds for Haiti earthquake relief. With the exception of the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, each partner organization was selected for its history of operation and collaboration within the NGO community in Haiti. [MTV via GerardButler.net]

Gerard also pledged to give $50,000 per year for five years to aid in the rebuilding in Haiti. The Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) charity raised more than $4 million for long term Haitian relief.

The brunch had two purposes: first, to get emergency relief to the children of Haiti and second, to raise money for long-term relief so that Haiti will not once again be forgotten as soon is it is out of the news. One hundred friends and supporters of APJ pledged to support the disaster-stricken nation over the next five to ten years, committing funds to building and funding schools, in a country where most children don't have access to basic education.

Attendees were asked to make a minimum donation of $5,000. A live connection was established at the event that gave guests the opportunity to chat with doctors and relief workers on the ground in Haiti, allowing them to hear first-hand about the progress being made. [Examiner]

More 'Last Station' interviews with James McAvoy

Greg Ellwood from HitFix interviews James McAvoy and Helen Mirren:

James also did an interview with Now Magazine's Norman Wilner, and you can read an excerpt below, and be sure to listen to the audio clips at the source:

Are you planning to shift back and forth between big studio pictures like Narnia and Wanted and smaller films like this?

I did Narnia because it was a good opportunity and all that, but really? I wanted to play Mr. Tumnus because he’s my favourite children’s character. That was awesome. And after that, it’s just the same with every single job. “Is this is a good script? Is this a good character? Would I have fun doing it? Let’s go and give it a bash.” With Wanted, it was slightly different – “Yes, it’s a good character, I do think I’ll have fun playing it.” But also, there’s a 14-year-old boy inside me who gets to do the action shit. And I can’t deny the 14-year-old boy. He gets very excited about it.

The Internet claims that a Wanted sequel is in the works, but given the way that movie wraps up, it seems awfully unlikely. Is it happening?

They want it to happen. I don’t know if it is. I’m still working to get a script. But definitely, Wanted 2 is wanted by Universal.

David Tennant drops out of 'Burke and Hare'

David Tennant had be scheduled to star opposite Simon Pegg, but now he's had to drop out. According to Simon Pegg's Titter account:
David Tennant had to drop out of B&H but by sheer glorious serendipity a legend of Middle Earth and Skull Island has come aboard. Welcome AS

Director John Landis has cast Andy Serkis who will likely play William Hare. No one has announced why David dropped out yet, but maybe this is good news for his Rex Is Not Your Lawyer NBC pilot.

'Torchwood' and John Barrowman headed to the USA?

Fox has its own version of Torchwood in development. Series creator Russell T. Davies is working on the script and BBC veterans Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter will be executive producers. If Fox does pickup Torchwood for a pilot John Barrowman will likely play Capt. Jack Harkness. "As for the new show’s plot, the U.S. version will contain a global story line compared to the more localized sensibility of the first two BBC seasons."
